Early-WWII Web M2 Paratrooper Helmet Chinstrap OD#3 Khaki (J-Hook Side Only)

Early-WWII Web M2 Paratrooper Helmet Chinstrap OD#3 Khaki (J-Hook Side Only)

This original WWII M2 paratrooper helmet chinstrap was acquired from the estate of D. C. Delooff, a Lieutenant who served in the 11th Airborne Division, 188th Glider Infantry Regiment, Company F, 3rd Battalion. The strap exhibits a brass J-hook with sharp points and a nickel-plated snap backed by a United Carr rivet. The M2 helmet was notorious for its "D-bails" snapping at the welds, resulting in lost chinstraps. Due to its original line of bartack stitching still being intact, a snapped D-bail is likely how this chinstrap became loose. This chinstrap is a rare, must-have for the collector with a lacking M2 D-bail.
