Early-WWII U.S. M1 Helmet Liner Headband (Double Wire)
This is an original and faintly stamped Scholl Manufacturing Co. WWII headband. It is ID'd to Private First Class Justin V. Gidman, serial number 31171713. View the Veteran's Information Section for more details regarding PFC Gidman's life and military service. It features the 'double wire' buckle variation and the earliest style spring clips, which dates the headband's production to early-1942. The leather is in used condition, but is still pliable. This would be an ideal headband for all helmet liners with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and low-pressure liners).
