Early-WWII U.S. Lieutenant's Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Rayon St. Clair Liner (1942)
This is an original early-WWII U.S. Lieutenant's M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell's heat stamp of 125C dates its production to April 1942. In addition to the original Lt.'s marking, it retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The helmet's early style fixed loops remain strong and intact. The low pressure St. Clair manufactured helmet liner features a rare green painted interior, aluminum rectangular washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and a damaged stationary leather liner strap. These early characteristics date the liner's production from April to May 1942; these two months were the only time in which liners with green painted interiors were being produced, making this an exceptionally rare item. It comes complete with its original rayon headband and khaki neckband. The liner's exterior exhibits its original early-war flat olive drab factory finish.
