Early-WWII U.S. Leather Liner Strap With Flat Brown Steel Buckle
This is an original, and exceedingly rare, WWII leather liner strap. In fact, it is the first and only intact example we have ever offered for sale. The leather is still quite pliable, however it has dried somewhat with age. The brown-painted steel buckle is the early variety with the flat lip, dating the strap's production from late-1942 to mid-1943. The vast majority of early-war leather liner straps exhibit green buckles, however a small amount were produced with brown buckles. It is unknown whether this was a production error, or if it was an attempt to have the buckle match the strap, itself. It also features brown-painted steel United Carr rivets. This would be an ideal strap for a helmet liner with non-painted steel A-washers (including Hawleys and low-pressures).
