Early-WWII U.S. Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Rayon Hawley Liner (1941 Set)
This is an original early-WWII U.S. M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured fixed loop helmet shell's considerably early heat stamp of 49D 2 dates its production to mid-1941 - months before the United States entered the war. It retains its original factory paint, cork texture, and OD#3 (khaki) chinstraps. The chinstraps feature the early cast-brass buckle, carried over from the M1917A1 helmet. The helmet's early style fixed loops remain strong and intact. The Hawley manufactured helmet liner retains aluminum washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and a rarely-intact stationary leather liner strap, which date the liner's production to mid-1941. The rayon suspension is strong and intact. It has recently been completed with an original size 5 rayon neckband and a size 6 1/2 headband.
