This is an original early-WWII Inland manufactured M1 helmet liner. It features non-painted steel A-washers, a transitional khaki suspension, and folded ends on the neck support. These early features date the liner's production from mid-1942 to mid-1943. The Johnson & Johnson manufactured suspension is strong and intact. It is inscribed with what appears to be a soldier's name and laundry number, but I can't quite decipher it. The liner has recently been outfitted with an original Comfort Slipper Corporation manufactured neckband and an original size 7 1/8 rayon headband. The exterior's original flat olive drab factory paint finish was painstakingly uncovered beneath a post-war repaint. This liner will display quite nicely when paired with a fixed loop helmet.
