This is an original early-WWII Inland manufactured M1 helmet liner. It features non-painted steel A-washers, a transitional khaki suspension, and folded ends on the neck support. These early features date the liner's production from mid-1942 to mid-1943. The Johnson & Johnson manufactured suspension is strong and intact. It comes complete with its original Comfort Slipper Corporation manufactured neckband and a recently installed size 7 1/4 rayon headband. The neckband exhibits the laundry number D-6656, while the neck suspension is enscribed with the initials "F.G.", indicating that the liner was most likely in service by two separate individuals. The exterior's original olive drab factory paint finish is in great condition.
