This is an original early-WWII Hawley manufactured M1 helmet liner. It retains non-painted steel rectangular washers, a first pattern rayon suspension, and remnants of a stationary leather liner strap, dating the liner's production from mid-1941 to mid-1942. The rayon suspension is strong and intact. The liner has recently been completed with the addition of an original rayon Johnson & Johnson manufactured headband and a size 4 rayon neckband, which was actually cut from a damaged headband and is therefore technically not original, but nearly indistinguishable from such. If the new owner wishes to swap it out, original rayon neckbands are available in the Helmet Accessories Section. The body of the liner is cracked and torn throughout, however it still fits inside a steel helmet shell without issue.
