Early-WWII U.S. Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Firestone Liner (1942 Set)

Early-WWII U.S. Fixed Loop M1 Helmet & Firestone Liner (1942 Set)

This is an original early-WWII M1 helmet set. The McCord manufactured front seam fixed loop helmet shell has an illegible heat stamp, however given its characteristics it likely dates from mid to late-1942. The helmet retains its original field repaint, cork texture, and somewhat tattered brass-buckled khaki chinstraps. A weld on one of the fixed loops has unfortunately come undone, however the loop is still in place. The Firestone manufactured liner's original olive drab factory paint finish is in good condition. The interior is etched with its original owner's laundry number, "J-0883." It features non-painted steel A-washers and a khaki suspension, which date the liner's production to late-1942. The suspension is tearing near the front washer. It comes complete with its original headband & neckband. The headband's leather has dried and deteriorated with time.
