This is an original 88th Infantry Division WWII U.S. McCord manufactured fixed loop M1 helmet shell. The wartime painted markings have been authenticated with the assistance of advanced digital microscopy. The previously undetectable micro cracking, which most forgers have yet to correctly replicate, is readily apparent under magnification. In addition to the 88th "Blue Devils" insignia, the front of the helmet exhibits an original U.S. flaming bomb ordinance emblem, Technical Sergeant rank, and name. The helmet retains its original paint, cork texture, and field-repaired chinstraps. The straps feature steel hardware. The helmet's fixed loops are strong and intact. The heat stamp of 662C, dates the helmet's production to October 1943.
